Description:

A large and common beetle that, once in flight, can often be heard approaching from some distance away.

Habitat:

This impressive beetle, one of a number of chafers, will normally fly at night during the months of May and June. The adult beetles will chew the leaves of trees and shrubs whild the grubs will feed on te roots of many different kinds of plants, including many crops.
