You might want to submit the photo and ID to Buguide for confirmation. I am a novice at entomology and these have a lot of little differences. It is fun looking for bugs.

I replaced my suggestion with a new one after doing more research on Buguide and finding that the Tribe Lepturini is in your range. Did find a similar looking beetle to your photo when I burrowed down; Lepturine - Analeptura lineola http://bugguide.net/node/view/571009 Take a look and see what you think.

Well worth a try and I believe like you it is a member of the cerambycid family, just do not have a good reference. I will keep looking, Good luck in your search.

Thanks gatorfellows, I don't think the insignis is in Connecticut. I did suspect this is a member of the cerambycid family but it's difficult to narrow it down to species.

Check if it is in your range; could not find a CT list.
