Rasperry crazy ant

Nylanderia fulva

Description:

A slightly orangish-maroon colour. Was always on the move and with other ants of presumably it's own species. At first, I thought it was a fire ant, but now, I think it's a crazy ant because of it's "Quick erratic movements" and because of another spotting of it. Insert Ozzy Osbourne crazy train reference here. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/129...

Habitat:

MS SAS Secondary Rainforest

Notes:

All of the ants tried climbing up the tree, and when I held a pencil in front of them to halt their progress, they just kept butting their heads (literally) against the pencil as if they didn't know it was there. I'd anticipate at least that they would try to climb up my pencil and onto my arm to bite me, but they seemed really determined to go to their destination. This makes me wonder about whether or not they have a free will of their own. Also, they couldn't really sit still for a moment.
