European Starling

Sturnus vulgaris

Notes:

Is this chick being trained, or is it too early to get out of the nest? It has more feathers than I thought, but still is quite young.

Thanks Keith! Perhaps so, though I think Liam is right.

Could it be a Northern Mockingbird?

Thanks Liam! We let it be, and it hopped about a hundred yards into the nearby forest, where, after 3 hours, its parent met up with it and they went into the woods. Thanks again, Liam.

Pretty sure that's a European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris). It looks perfectly of age to be fledged. It should be left where it is so its parents can take care of it.

Thanks, Karen, it is quite sad, I hope to find what to do! Yes, I like photo two too! He has sort of an Albert Einstein face!

Poor thing. It looks very miserable. I love photo 2 - what an expression!
