Anthracoceros albirostris
The Oriental Pied Hornbill (Anthracoceros albirostris) is a species of hornbill whose diet consists mainly of wild fruit, as well as small reptiles and insects. It was extinct in Singapore in the mid-1800’s but through the Singapore Hornbill Project, there are now over 100 of them in Singapore and is now common sight in most parks and nature reserves in Singapore. In the second picture, you can see the male and female hornbills exchanging fruit. This is a sign that the male will take care of the female and her off-springs needs, since they mate for life.
This hornbill found in India and throughout South-east asia. It is usually found in subtropical or tropical lowland forests. These two hornbills were spotted in Desaru, Malaysia.
