Red-shafted northern flicker

Colaptes auratus cafer

Description:

I found these feathers under a tree where a red tailed hawk was feeding on a Hermit thrush. I assumed then that these feathers belonged to a Red Tailed Hawk. Thanks to Ashley T for pointing out that they belonged to a flicker.

Habitat:

open space
