Description:

The leaves are spread in two rows, 2-4 inches long and approximately 2 inches wide; and are elliptic in shape. Also they are thick, stiff and leathery, and have a dull green color. The berries on a holly bush only appear on the female plants. Since male and female flowers are on separate plants. And need one another to prodcue berries.

Habitat:

Preferred habitat is moist or wet well-drained soils, especially in flood zones and in mixed hardwood forests.
