Body was 24-28 mm., not including forelegs.


Shallow, still water in a lush wetland. Fourth photo shows the habitat where this was collected (specimen was returned after the photographs were taken).


Based upon the location, this is probably Ranatra fusca, This animal was found in a wetland area near Winfield, West Virginia. It is privately-owned land, but it is managed by the local power company as a wetland reserve for educational purposes.
