Description:

little bigger than a yellow jacket. has partial fuzz on its smooth body. It has short yellow hairs covering body, forming bands on abdomen. smoky wings

Habitat:

Pyramid Lake. shore line of sand, rocks & tufa rocks & around the flowers that it's on it the photo & next to the dirt roads. also lots of sage & rabbit brush. lives in open sites with alkaline or clay soils, which is what Pyramid Lake is

Notes:

it doesn't seem to make a buzzing sound like a bee & wings when at rest sit like a flies wings, not a bee.

I think I figured it out. It is an Alkali Bee.
