Large Milkweed Bug

Oncopeltus fasciatus

Description:

Thought this was a Boxelder Bug, but someone from Project Noah kindly suggested it is a Large Milkweed Bug. And, after viewing the photos on Wikipedia, I concur! Of course, being that the bug was spotted on a Common Milkweed, it makes sense. This photo was taken on the Flint Hills Nature Trail, a 117 mile walking/biking/horseback riding trail that stretches from Osawatamie, KS to Herington, KS.
