Yeah but like I said it could be a subspecies :-)
I stated I was a novice at turtles; but I think Kansas is out of the range for the eastern. Wikipedia said that the geographical range for Terrapene carolina bauri "It is endemic to the U.S. state of Florida and the extreme southeastern portion of Georgia." Looks like eastern box turtle to me. But could be a different subspecies
I am a turtle novice, so my suggestion was a guess based on the article I found.
