Inverted Y Slug Moth

Apoda y-inversum

Description:

Apoda y-inversum, the Inverted Y Slug Moth, also known as the Yellow-Collared Slug Moth is a moth in the family Limacodidae, or the slug caterpillar moths. The species is characterized by a diagonal downward line on each side of the upper forewing. Below that line, there is a "Y" facing inward to the body of the moth on each side of the lower forewing. There is also a line over one side in the "Y" which makes an "X" in the middle of the forewing on each side.

Habitat:

Larva feed on ironwood, beech, hickory, and oak.

Notes:

Another one of my sought after species found!
