Beehive Ginger

Zingiber Spectabile

Description:

This plant is approximately 15cm tall with many deep pockets in the side of it possibly to store water when it rains in the rainforest, as the canopy might block the rainfall a lot, making it hard for organisms such as this one to survive. The bark/stem of this plant is very thick as this plant weighs a lot, so it has to carry this plant.

Habitat:

Singapore American School Secondary Rainforest

Notes:

This plant can also be used for medicinal/decorational purposes, and it is widely used in these purposes. This plant is prominently grown in the west, however we still have them in South-east Asia.
