Butterfly Lizard

Leiolepsis sp

Description:

Large agamid of about 50 cm from snout to the tip of the muscular tail, grey/brown colour with light yellow spot pattern on the back; towards the tail, the spots become a solid line on either side of its back; the flanks have orange and black vertical bands. Front legs are banded, while hind legs show a continuation of the spot pattern. Any suggestions as to what species this is are much appreciated.

Habitat:

On lawn very close to the beach on the small island of Koh Sriboya, they would stay near their burrows always ready to disappear into one.
