Jumping Spider

Cosmophasis parangpilota

Description:

Salticidae; Heliophaninae; Cosmophasis parangpilota Barrion & Litsinger, 1995. I previously called this Cosmophasis sp. because, although I suspected that it was C. parangpilota, I had nothing sufficiently convincing to persuade me. Now, with numerous websites showing pictures of spiders (which appear to be identical to my specimens) all of which are labelled C. parangpilota, I have decided to accept that identification. I will add references to my notes below as they become available, to try and build a body of evidence to further support my opinion.

Habitat:

I spotted this Cosmophasis parangpilota on the leaves of a Sunflower in our back garden.
