I guess is just the lighting, the plants on left in background look glabrous, while the plants in the foreground appear pubescent.

There is no catnip in the picture at all, it is all lemon balm. Catnip and lemon balm are both in the mint family

I took another look at the picture, is the catnip in front of the lemon balm? Could be the source of my confusion.

tastes more like lemon balm than Catnip ;-) Will be posting Catnip soon. It is much more fuzzy looking. Lemon balm is heat stressed
