Hudson Pear

Cylindropuntia rosea

Description:

Cactus fully covered with hard and sharp thorns. Thorns are white with a pink color at the base. You can hardly see any green part of the cactus. Thorns are a defense against plant eaters as well as a protector from the sun rays and heat. Very drought resistent (look at the last pick).

Habitat:

Semi desert

Notes:

Hudson pear has particularly vicious spines which are capable of penetrating footwear and even vehicle tyres.
