Small-spotted genet

Genetta genetta

Description:

A secretive, nocturnal species, the common genet inhabits rocky terrain with caves, dense scrub land, pine forests, and marshland. This handsome, feline-looking animal, has a pale grey and black spotted coat, with a long striped tail

Notes:

This little guy was curious about us and hung around all night at a camp in the Kruger National Park. About the size of a house cat and very sweet demeanor. However, he caught a big bug in front of us, and the quick snap of the jaw and crush of a really big insect made us realize that the genet remains a wild animal!
