Turdus migratorius
The American robin is a migratory songbird belonging to the thrush family. It is active mostly during the day and assembles in large flocks at night (although there were flocks of robins nearby where this one was sighted in the afternoon). The robin's diet consists of beetle grubs (which you can see this one eating), earthworms, and caterpillars along with fruits, and berries. It is one of the earliest bird species to lay its eggs in the spring.
American robins breed throughout most of North America, from Alaska and Canada southward to northern Florida and Mexico. Many of them make their home here in Maryland... Source: Wikipedia
