Plum-headed Parakeet (male, female)

Psittacula cyanocephala

Description:

Slim and slender parakeets with elongated tails. Greenish body. Male has a bright plum coloured head and a black and blue neck ring plus a red spot on wing. Females have a washed out bluish-grey coloured head. Their beaks are more yellowish as compared to a more orangish beak in males.

Habitat:

Having a feast of mariold (Tagetes) seeds sitting on a leaf-less Plumeria tree. My New Delhi office garden.

Notes:

I suppose this is the way marigold seeds would be propagated in nature.
