Thanks Alice, Suz and Ingrid! It was a family group suzmonk - apparently there can be anything from between 6 - 40 individuals together at any given time! We spotted them on the side of a dirt road and we were the only car there at the time, so I think the mongoose in the second pic was just giving me a model pose ;)
