Description:

The family Liocranidae is represented worldwide by 41 genera of which 11 occur in the Afrotropical Region and 8 genera and about 20 species in Southern Africa. This family has not been well studied in Africa. Common name Spiny-legged sac spiders (Liocranidae). Lifestyle Wanderers (ground dwellers); nocturnal free-running spiders; abundance: rare. Body size 3-15 mm. Genera Andromma raffrayi; Argistes africanus; Coryssiphus (3 spp.); Hortipes (numerous spp.); Messapus martini; Orthobula (2 spp.); Rhaeboctesis (7 spp.); Thysanina serica.
