Lamprolina impressicollis
Length approx. 15mm,
Dry eucalypt forest @ 1200m elevation. Found on an Australian Black Thorn Shrub ( Bursaria spinosa )
Added ID, Thanks Mark & Martin
Thanks Martin, all the ones I saw today had a red back. I'll go with you & Mark on the ID for this one, thanks to you both.
It usually has a metallic green back but seems to sometime have red elytra like yours does http://farm9.static.flickr.com/8532/8555... I've seen this one in Sydneyhttp://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/171...
Maybe Pittosporum Beetle (Lamprolina impressicollis) http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...
Thanks Mark, found a only few of these, all on one type of thorny shrub.
That's a beauty Mac. I can't find it yet. Some leaf beetle I think.
Thanks Cindy
What a beauty!
