Ceratina sp.
This small bee is green/blue with green eyes. The wings are clear. "Features that help with ID of this genus : club-shaped abdomen, dull metallic color and inconspicuous hair. Males have larger white markings on the face." - Eric Eaton
Outside riparian area at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve.
I had looked at various bees that have been found in the area and that species definitely stood out. I didn't think about a Carpenter Bee at first because I'm use to the large one's.
Anyway, you're a pretty good bet when it comes to ID's of most organisms :)
Oh, you already agree?? ;-)... I am absolutely not a bee man, although we had breed some this summer.
Thank you bayucca! It looks like we have C. arizonensis and C. cockerelli in the area. I think it would be difficult to tell which so I'll go with your suggestion of Ceratina sp. :)
Just a very shy guess!!
