Buff Striped Keelback

Amphiesma stolatum

Description:

A. stolatum is a relatively small non-venomous and non-aggressive snake of the family Colubridae, the normal size of adults is usually 40-50 cm and they hunt for small frogs and toads. This specimen does not display the normal color-variation as in the pictures of wikipedia and inaturalist.

Habitat:

Farmland, mixed tropical forest, garden.

Notes:

Saved this one from my family members that was sure it was a pit viper, thus tried to kill it. It wanted to get away when I catched it, however it quickly calmed down and started wiggling through my glove. It never once tried biting, rather tried to avoid my hand when it detected my movements. Fed it some small frogs and released it the day after, away from the property in a forest close by.
