A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Acer saccharinum
It is one of the most common trees in the United States. Grows very quickly, providing shade earlier than most trees. Green on top and silvery underneath through spring and summer, they turn a pale yellow in the fall.
Silver maple is found on stream banks, flood plains, and lake edges where it grows best on better-drained, moist alluvial soils, at elevations of 30-600 meters.
