Plains Garter Snake

Thamnophis radix

Description:

This snake bit off more than it could chew with this large toad. After trying for a while (while hiding in the crack of the building) it eventually let the toad go. Surprisingly, even though this photo looks deathly, the toad was fine and ended up hopping away.

Habitat:

Meadow habitat, in the corner of an old building.

Notes:

I believe the toad is an American toad - but I'm not 100% sure.
