Lychee Shield Bug/Jewel Bug

Description:

Metallic luster flying jewel bug, legs are bluish, antennae have four visible joints, first joint is metallic and closest to the head, the other three are black. Body on close inspection has fine pores in the exoskeleton visible in macro observations or hand lens. Eyes slightly protruding away from the body. Under parts are metallic in luster and red to yellow depending on light and season. Tends to fly from low shrub to low shrub, usually knee height or lower.

Habitat:

Open fields with small shrubs.
