Springtail

Description:

Very very small little critter. Crawling on my light diffuser while my flash was in it. Internal mouth parts... not an insect -- COOL!!! Anyone help narrow down the Genus species for me?

Habitat:

Diverse woods near a small lake.

My nomenclature is out of date. When I took Entomology classes Springtails were considered insects, they were in the order Collembola and the Globular Springtails were in the family Sminthuridae. Now, Collembola are their own class and the Globular Springtails are in the order Symphypleona.

Great image, by the way.

I would have guessed an insect - very cool spotting.
