Buffalo Burr

Solanum rostratum

Notes:

I was almost certain that this was Yellow Star Thistle, but the blooms are all wrong! So I have no idea. To me, the blooms look similar to the purple ones of the Silver Night Shade. But look at all those mean thorns!

You were on the right track with the flowers. Buffalo burr is in the nightshade family. Many Solanums have thorns or prickles.

It's Buffalo Bur, Solanum rostratum. Funny you thought thistle and nightshade, it has more common names referring to these lol. Good pictures!
