Description:

This is weird. Tan growths on the underside of an Oak tree leaf. The leaf is dead where the growth is at. There is a webbing next to the growth that extends to the nearby leaf. This gall is caused by a wasp. "Two generations per year, each producing completely different galls. The unisexual summer generation creates stem galls that are hard, round, and spiny, up to 3cm in diameter. The bisexual spring generation creates mushroom-shaped galls on the leaves, up to 7mm wide and tall."

Habitat:

Coast Live Oak leaf in Oak forest. "Found on Quercus agrifolia (coast live oak) and Quercus wislizenii (interior live oak)."
