White-tailed Deer

Odocoileus virginianus

Description:

I spotted this deer on my way into town to get breakfast. She (I think it's female) made this very daring, and rather silly crossing of lake. I had walked out onto the ice that morning, and it cracked beneath my weight -- I think this is a very lucky deer! I included her escaping the lake with a splash so there is a happy ending.

Habitat:

'Northern' Ontario is made up of many rivers and lakes.
