Beetle

Description:

This small Beetle, was three sixteenth of an inch long. It had two antennae. It had two compound eyes. It had six jointed legs. It had a head, thorax, and abdomen. It had two sets of wings. The head was black, and the thorax was black. The top pair of wings, the forewings, ( elytra ), was a dark red color. It also had vertical lines running down the length of the forewings. I'm not sure, but it may also have black dots on the dark red forewings?

Habitat:

Resting on a concrete wall, outside of the front door. Also, some were resting on the concrete steps, outside of the front door.

Notes:

In the evening, I would turn the front porch lights on, when it got dark. About an hour later, about six dark red Beetles, would be resting on a concrete wall, outside of the front door. Also, a few dark red Beetles, would be resting on the concrete steps, outside of the front door. Sometimes, there would be other types of insects, and sometimes there would be some Moths, all resting on the concrete wall, until morning time, when it got lighter. When it got lighter, all these insects would fly away. All these insects, would be here every night, until morning time.
