Lobelia cardinalis
Many brilliant red, tubular, bilaterally symmetrical flowers in an elongated cluster on an erect stalk. The leaves are 6" long, lanceolate, and toothed. Total height 2'-4'. Flowers July-September.
Damp sites, especially along streams.
Pollinated mainly by hummingbirds, because most insects find it difficult to navigate the long, tubular flowers.
