Description:

Pale tawny to dark sandy brown, with white underpants. The long tail is short-haired, with a distinctive black tuft at the tip. The manes vary from tawny to black, and in size from a slight ruff around the neck to a luxuriant growth framing the face.(Smithers' mammals of southern africa a field guide. fourth edition)

Habitat:

various except forest and true desert.

Notes:

I was standing in a bunker near the drinking spot of a big rehabilitation park... hence the close up photos without me being in his stomach :)
