Thanks for the info, I will see what I can find from there. I don't have any other angles. I had my dog with me and they got scared and flew off when she ran to the water.
Based on the white supercilium (eyebrow), marked pattern on the wing, dark cap I'm going to suggest White-rumped Sandpipers. Having said that however, the legs look light but they don't look like Least Sandpipers to me. It would be nice to have a picture showing the legs and the primary projection; i.e. where the wingtips fall in relation to the tail. In fact, if you have a picture of the top of the tail/rump that would be wonderful.
Were you able to get any other angles on these birds?
