Mealybug

Unidentified Pseudococcidae

Description:

Hemiptera; Sternorrhyncha; Coccoidea; Pseudococcidae Heymons, 1915. This is a female Mealybug. The males, according to wikipedia look completely different " Males are smaller, gnat-like and have wings." These organisms don't look much like insects, but if you look at https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/20... you can see the legs and antennae.

Habitat:

Spotted on an unidentified tree at the side of a track running along the edge of a mangrove swamp.

Notes:

Mealybugs belong to a group known as Scale Insects.
