Prunus pensylvanica
The Pin Cherry has a height of about 9m and a diameter of around 0.3m.The range of the tree is from Eastern Canada down to Georgia.Pin Cherries live in most soils in pure stands on burned areas and clearings. The leaves on the tree grow up to 6-11cm long and 2-3cm wide when fully grown. The leaves are broadly lance-shaped, long pointed, and sharply saw toothed, they turn from shiny green to bright yellow in Autumn. The fascinating plant’s bark is reddish-gray with smooth thin plates. In Spring, the flowers grow 12mm wide with 5 rounded white petals.Obviously, the tree grows cherries with red skin and a sour pulp. The scientific name for the tree is Prunus Pennsylvanica.
