Painted Bunting (female)

Passerina ciris

Description:

Unlike the multihued male the female is a drab olive and yellow. She is somewhat like the Orange-crowned Warbler, also found in this area but has a thicker less pointed beak. This is a lifer for me. Have a shot of male but none of females until this little beauty. I just sat down on a chair to get a breath and looked down at base of tree to see her picking berries.

Habitat:

Wetlands
