For mottled ducks, easiest characters are the spot right behind the bill, a solid, orange bill (may look pinkish in different lights, but it won't have black on it like female mallards do), and the black outline to the blue speculum (mallards have white).

Thanks Ashley, I thought so but the beak color almost looked pinkish red and threw me a little
