Anthurium

Anthurium andraeanum

Description:

The leaves of this plant often look glossy and waxy. The leaves are heart shaped and have a slender finger like spadix coming out from the leaf. Colors vary from white, yellow ,red ,pink ,green and cream.

Notes:

Other interesting historical, cultural, or ecological information: there are 500 different species and they all come in different colors. The plants are poisonous and contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause severe mouth irritation and swelling if ingested.
