Purple bougainvillea is an ornamental with sharp thorns and brilliant, plentiful blossoms.

Habitat:

Dry sunny climate, 2200 foot elevation on Haleakala slope, Maui.

Notes:

This is one of our bougainvillea hedges. It's very drought-resistant and has survived as much as 5 years without rain.
