Banded Argiope

Description:

This spider was wrapping its prey in web. The prey was still very much alive and moving during the process. The video shows the spider resting next to the moving prey. "Pale yellow, carapace has silver hairs, abdomen is striped in silver, yellow, and black."

Habitat:

Coastal scrub right along trail. This spider is found throughout the US in various habitats.

Thank you! I was excited to spot this one. Although it's common, it's my first spotting of it. I've now spotted all three Argiope species found in our area :)
