Brachiopod Fossil

Description:

Mold fossil of a brachiopod. The rock measures ~26 mm (1.05 in) tall, ~21 mm (.82 in) wide and ~13.5 mm (.53 in) thick. The fossil measures ~13 mm (.5 in) tall and ~11 mm (.4 in) wide. This fossil dates to the Devonian Period (416-359.2 million years ago). The rock is sandstone.

Habitat:

Rocky shore of man-made lake. Pymatuning Lake, Ahstabula County, Andover, Ohio, USA

Notes:

The extreme close up pictures were taken with a Digital Blue QX5 USB microscope at 10x power.
