Mattiphus Shield Bug

Mattiphus reflexus

Description:

This very active little fella was 3 cm / 1.2 inches long. He didn't seem at all shy, and very obligingly paused/posed every so often so I could take a photo. :-)

Habitat:

Hills overlooking Manila.

Hi Agnes! Actually we live (& have all our bug/moth/etc. visitors) in Valley Golf - on the edge of Manila, near Antipolo. But the PN map automatically seems to see "Manila" as Intramuros...

Ann, this is a beauty! I never thought Intramuros in Manila houses beautiful bugs (as can be seen from your collection). I miss Intramuros, spent 5 years in studies there :)
