Fluted bird's nest fungus

Cyathus striatus

This fungus resembles a miniature bird's nest with numerous tiny "eggs"; the eggs, or peridioles, are actually lens-shaped bodies that contain spores.

Spotted on a nurse log at the West Hylebos Wetland Park.

Fascinating stuff, fungus. And you have a job that takes you down the road less traveled ... how cool is that? Nice spot!
