spotted thorax longicorn

Description:

This dark longicorn was about 30 mm long. It was difficult to see details in the night light but the thorax showed raised pale spots on either side of the midline and a single spot in the midline at the base of the elytra. Pale semi lunar patches lined the eyes at the base of the antennae - these were clearly visible in the dim light.

Habitat:

Spotted at a railway station near a national park.

Notes:

Has similarities to Strongylurus species from the rainforest in NSW http://insectnet.proboards.com/thread/23... But it's probably not the right genus..
