Description:

also known as Coriolus versicolor and Polyporus versicolor – is a common polypore mushroom found throughout the world. Meaning 'of several colours', versicolor reliably describes this mushroom found in different colors. By example, due to its resembling multiple colors in the tail of wild turkey, T. versicolor is commonly called turkey tail. Additional Information: it is and Edible/medicinal. The Chinese use the turkey tail as a remedy against liver cancer and jaundice. It can be ground and used as a tea or in soup.

Habitat:

It is found in North American woods, found virtually anywhere where there are dead hardwood logs and stumps to decompose--and, occasionally, on conifer wood too.Grows in groups, rows, or clusters, often layered, on stumps and logs of deciduous trees.
