Asian openbill stork

Anastomus oscitans

Habitat:

It is found foraging wetlands. I have spotted them previously in Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary but this was my first spotting of them in Van Vihar, Bhopal, M.P..

Notes:

It is the bird on the left, with a gap between the mandibles in the beak. The right one is the black-headed ibis.

Thank you, Ava and Sukanya for guiding me through the proper process here. I have just started and hope that I can be actively involved.

Thanks for clearing up this spotting. Now you can also post the same picture, but about the black-headed ibis.

Hi Varun, when your spotting has two different species in it, post it twice, one for each species. So this one would be the black-headed stork, and then make another post with the same picture, but with the scientific name of the Open-billed stork.

Since it is your own spotting, Varun you may use the box specified for scientific name straightaway.

The Suggest an ID box is for others to give you suggestions for an ID when you do not have one. Great spotting too BTW.
And you can use the Habitat box to write about where you saw it how you spotted it etc.
