Viola sagittata

Description:

Flowers are deep purple-violet with two upper petals aligned side by side and 3 lower petals with tufts of white hairs at the throat. Leaves are arrowhead shapes.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Tamarac Visitor Center. It grows in moist open woods, riverbanks and sandy prairies.
